Bove is asking Pecker about Keith Davidson, noting that he was both a lawyer for McDougal and a source for National Enquirer editor in chief, Dylan Howard. Pecker says it was a “unique situation.”
Pecker said he eventually learned that Davidson knew Michael Cohen.
He first learned that Davidson knew Cohen in August 2016 around the time they were signing McDougal’s agreement.
Bove is trying to drill down on Davidson’s role as a “major source” for the National Enquirer.
“I wouldn’t classify him as a major attorney,” Pecker says. Bove responded, “stipulated.”
This drew some laughs in the courtroom. Trump’s other attorney, Todd Blanche, cracked a wide smile. Prosecutor Joshua Steinglass also laughed.
Bove followed up by asking whether Davidson was a major source for Howard.
“We have hundreds of sources, he was one of many,” Pecker says.
Bove hones in that Davidson and Cohen knew each other and that Pecker didn’t know that until right before the agreement was signed.
“You don’t know what Cohen and Davidson were doing on the side, (did) you?” Pecker replied, “I don’t.”
